Include any other comments or information you want the Commission to consider in evaluating your compliance with the Children's Television Act (or use this space for supplemental explanations). This may include information on any other noncore educational and informational programming that you aired this quarter or plan to air during the next quarter, or any existing or proposed non-broadcast efforts that will enhance the educational and informational value of such programming to children. See 47 C.F.R. Section 73.671, NOTES 2 and 3. WSTM is committed to age-appropriate experiences and enrichment for Central New York children. First quarter is in-school reading, scouts tours and career fair time for staffers: Several staffers were involved in reading to students at area elementary schools (Parents as Reading Partners is one such program). We also do weekly tours of the broadcast center, primarily for Tiger Cubs, to help them earn communicator badges and awards for understanding how the news is put together, produced and broadcast. We share these efforts with the community by showing group photos on our newscasts. And, several staffers were involved in career fairs, both the preliminary exploratory versions in 6th-8th grades, and intern and job fairs at area colleges and universities. Ongoing efforts also include job shadows and tours for high schoolers, especially those involved in producing their own daily shows at school, and internships for college students, aimed at helping young people understand our business and focus on preparing for careers, not only with the technical skills, but also with good work habits and workplace readiness. Staffers are also involved in coaching youth sports, in teaching our craft at the community college level, and sitting on boards that work for the welfare and betterment of young people.
