Include any other comments or information you want the Commission to consider in evaluating your compliance with the Children's Television Act (or use this space for supplemental explanations). This may include information on any other noncore educational and informational programming that you aired this quarter or plan to air during the next quarter, or any existing or proposed non-broadcast efforts that will enhance the educational and informational value of such programming to children. See 47 C.F.R. Section 73.671, NOTES 2 and 3. Children's programming was preempted on Saturday, July 7 due to NBC's coverage of Tour de France. Children's programming was preempted on Saturday, July 28, August 4 and August 11 due to NBC's coverage of Olympics. Children's programming was preempted on Saturday, September 29 due to NBC's coverage of Golf: The Ryder Cup. WLBZ 2 rescheduled all of the preempted children's programs. Wild Ltd., which ran on Saturdays at 3:30pm on the station's digital subchannel, Litton ceased production of the program and consequently it was only available to be aired through Saturday, August 25, 2012. Wild about Animals replaced Wild Ltd. and began airing on Saturday, September 1, 2012. The station decided to replace Sports Stars of Tomorrow (B), which ran Sundays at 3:30pm on the stations digital subchanel, with a new show Whaddyado. Sports Stars of Tomorrow (B) aired through Sunday, August 26, 2012 and Whaddyado began airing, Sunday, September 2, 2012. During the 3rd quarter, WLBZ hosted three station tours: All Saints Catholic School Summer Camp, Union Street Montessouri School and Maine Media Camp from New England School of Communications. During this quarter, Meteorologist Steve McKay visited a school in Frankfort. Steve's weather presentation starts with a 10 minute video, a virtual tour of the WLBZ 2 weather office. After the tape, Steve shows weather maps, and exactly what they can look for to try to figure out the weather (cold fronts, high and low pressure, etc.). He also talks about the cause of weather, what creates rain and snow, the seasons, etc. He always does a weather experiment, either forming a cloud with hot water and ice, or showing how air takes up space, or how rising air gets colder, then condenses. Each session ends with a question and answer session.
